Telehealth:
Dr Thurston will see patients via telehealth at his QE Specialist Centre consulting rooms only. He can perform both initial consultation and follow up via video facility. However, at times, it is essential to see a patient in person prior to embarking on definitive treatment.

Fees:
Dr Thurston charges fees above the Medicare rebate for consultations and MBS schedule for surgery.
Please contact Waverley Vascular Group or QE specialist center for an up-to-date list of fees. Fees are the same across all consulting sites and patients eligible for medicare will receive a rebate on consulting fees.
As of 1st May 2025 current fees are:
Initial consultation: $250
Review appointment: $140
Reduced rates are available for pension card holders:
Initial: $180/Review: $120
Surgical Gap:
All procedure requiring admission to hospital have a $500 surgeon gap. Insurance policy excess and anaethetist gap fees are in addition to this.
Sclerotherapy:
Venous procedures performed in the rooms do not attract health fund rebates. Please contact the rooms for a full list of charges.
Non-insured patients:
Dr Thurston is happy to provide a private consultation for non-insured patients. For any procedures please contact Waverley Vascular Group for a self-funding quote, often costs may be prohibitive.
Dr Thurston does not see work-cover patients

All referrals from Northern, Eastern and Southern Suburbs, as well as referrals from the Adelaide Hills (for Mount Barker appointments) and Fleurieu Peninsula (for Victor Harbour appointments) should be sent to Waverley Vascular Group.
All referrals from the Western Suburbs or for telehealth should be sent to QE specialist centre.

Fibromuscular dysplasia
Genetic conditions affecting the vascular tree (Ehlers Danlos, Loeys Dietz, Marfans)
Dr Thurston does not see patients whose primary complaints are:
Hyperhidrosis
Lymphoedema without active ulceration
Lipodema without evidence of venous insufficiency
Dr Thurston does not perform:
Lympho-venous surgery
Thorascopic sympathectomy
